blogging block?

I didn't post a Silent Sunday yesterday, I seem to have hit a bit of blogging block! coupled with a terrible cold sore throat and pounding headache my poor neglected blog got left un loved.

The past few days I have been trying to sort out what I actually want to blog about, and how to do it.

I have trawled the internet reading some of my favourite blogs who seem to write so amazingly, and about all sorts of topics, and I read through several of the highlighted posts in BritMums Newbie Tuesday where Actually Mummy was asking 'how much is too much?'

I have no problems as such with posting photos of my children, so its not that that bothers me, but I do find it difficult to blog about personal things because friends and family are aware of my blog and read regularly. I would hate to offend someone I am close to in the real world, by having a moan or a gripe on a bad day. But  this  means quite often my blog is left full of pretty photos and snippets of our life encapsulated in reviews, and I'm not sure how to change that, maybe I don't want to at all and really I'm quite happy sharing the odd photo here and there and writing up any reviews that come my way, but then there is always a nagging feeling that I should be writing something more.. something better.

I think I will have to have a look around and join in with some memes to get me in the swing of things again and hopefully when this cold subsided and I have a clearer head I will feel better and get round to finishing off the half written posts in my draft box which seem to be ever increasing as I never hit that publish button!

  1. I think we all go through phases of blogger block, sometimes I'll have a little break or I'll keep up with the memes. Sometimes it helps to flick through my photo albums on my PC and I'll be suddenly hit with a blogging idea x

  2. :)I now feel even more uneasy after reading Britmums discussion on the scary side of mum blogging, i don't want to be put into any sort of bracket and I think its abit unkind to brand people in such a way everyone blogs because they want too and enjoy it surely? posts like that are enough to make people feel like unless there amazing and dodin things 'right' then they are in the wrong :(

    1. I'm not a member of BritMums so I didn't read that. Blogging should be fun and shouldnt make anyone feel negative in any way. To me it is a hobby that I enjoy and I do my way. Some people are just negative about everything in life and like to make other people feel rubbish. Wish I'd read that article now, lol! x

  3. i know how you feel. i've been moaning though..but stilli feel that some things i rather keep private because there are people in my life that read my blog. this is why i started a private one in romanian. over there i can complain about anything without having to explain anything

    1. it is so much easier to write from the heart if your annonymous, but I love my photos too much to blog without them and with them its too obvious I'm me :) x

  4. I agree with you, and also do not like to share too much personal stuff, just because that is how I am and do not want to share every last detail of my life, not so much because of offending people, but still has to be considered.

    1. Thanks for commenting It is hard to write deep personal posts I think thats what is great about blogs tho, no pressure to do or be like anyone else, if you like to off load your most deep inner thoughts then thats fine, if you want to keep things light and breezy and less personal thats fine too :) x

  5. I think many bloggers would agree with all you say. It is a tricky balance, I am lucky to have the farm and the business to mix with the kids stuff and would encourage seeking an angle to make your blog that extra bit special for your own enjoyment, perhaps a new hobby or skill to include on the blog? Keep blogging while you seek out the extra something, I love your blog anyway!

  6. My blog cintent has evolved. It used to be full of family happenings but as my kids get older they are less keen to appear or to be blogged about! As with you too many friends and family now read it.

I blogged for a couple of years before anyone in my family circle (apart from my husband!) knew or cared. Also through Facebook I get many more visitors from friends who wouldn't be "traditional" blog readers - it's a double edged sword! More visitors from the real world....less free to share everything!

So now although my blog focus has shifted and it's less about the family it's more about the world around us (hence Titanic pics) I feel comfortable with where I am now. I'm sure it will continue to evolve.

(now I need to find that discussion on BritMums!)

  7. Know what you mean about having to watch what you say. Want to blog about something, but not sure I can do it yet because of other people's feelings.

    1. there are a few things I have thought about blogging about but then always think I shouldn't which is a shame as I am sure they would make intresting posts for others to read, but also for me and my family to look back on in years to come, maybe i will have to draft them and see how i feel after that :) x
