Adding our own colour

The weather really isn't great is it, but I guess we have got to just get used to the fact that in Britain Summer doesn't mean long hot days relaxing on the sunbed getting a tan, or leisurely picnics in a sunny park instead we have to make use of the sunny spells and dodge the showers as best we can.

One great activity which is perfect for this time of year is Chalking the paving slabs. It's a quick fun activity that needs no forward planning and is perfect for showery days when you don't want to go far for fears of downpours, but are fed up of being stuck inside.

Childrens pavement chalk can be brought form loads of places really cheaply so it something thats really handy to keep in, we picked up a big box of chunky chalks from our local pound store, and this weekend the children have happily dodged the showers and added a splash of much needed colour to the gloomy looking garden.

My youngest enjoyed colouring in sections making pattern and shapes, where as my daughter set about making a maze.

Then when they had finished the rain was welcomed as it washed away their creations leaving us a blank canvas to colour the next time!
